Ligurian Pigato D.O.C.
Flagship product oenology in western Liguria.
The vineyards from which our Pigato are located in the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, in areas between 50 and 400 meters above sea level. The wine has a straw yellow color with golden hues, with a broad and fruity bouquet with hints of peach, soft and persistent flavor with a pleasant aftertaste typical of marine flavor. It has a strong smell and slightly aromatic.
Its name comes from the transposition dialect “pigau”, which means spotted, but some would even derive from the Latin “picatum”, the wine flavored from Roman times.
In Liguria it dates back to the fifteenth century, and was introduced due to flourishing trade between the ancient Maritime Republic of Noli and Greece, in particular Thessaly.
